Music video: Ayumi Hamasaki - You & me (Short version)

Music video: Ayumi Hamasaki / 浜崎あゆみ - You & me (Short version) | Random J Pop

The video matches the song. She clusterf**ked "Blue bird", "Fairyland", The Forehead's "We found love" and Sonic the hedgehog, but it matches the song. Ayu looks cool and relaxed in this video, but we know better. The way Ayu truly feels is in the scene where she's curled up in her hotel room with her drenched weave, singing about her Fliday night.

"You & me" is such a terrible song, that it would have taken one heck of a video to have won me over in any capacity. But Ayu has become accustomed to shitty music videos. A far cry from the woman who used to set the standard for music videos. If she thought this video was going to save her A Summer best sales because she turned tricks with ping pong balls in a bikini, she's got another thing coming. That thing being her second flop.

Even if Ayu had jacked Crystal's "Forever" and pussy popped in front of somebody's beach house, started slow gridning at the fun fair and the dropped it low in the cereal aisle of the supermarket it would have been something. But I just have no invested interest in watching her on a quad bike, throw an ice cube out of a jeep window and get pushed around in a shopping trolley.

  1. Wow it's worse than I thought I would be. The song is a complete mess, and an obvious floppy queen reject.

  2. I really wish she would get serious about her music again. Guilty was the last album from her that felt like it belonged in her discography.

This song is terrible. She needs to ditch her entire team and start again with a new mindset, because she's just trying too damn hard (or not trying)

  3. I'm the only one that thinks this song is ok? :(

I mean, it's not great (i.e. buying material); but better than anything on Party Queen it is.

    1. Definetly not better than anything on party queen, and that album was garbage. It sounds as if whoever produced this song was trying to go in three seperate messy directions. The end result being a streaming hot pile of a shit culmination. And ayu screeching all over it with rebecca blackesq lyrics doesn't make it any more audible

  4. REALLY... you're all so harsh, when i first listened to the song I thought it was "meh" but since the video dropped I'm actually kind of hooked on it O_O also I agree with @David it's better than anything on "Party Queen" (except maybe "Return Road"). As for the video I think it shits on the "PQ" videos and it's actually nice to see Ayu in a more relaxed natural video instead of covered in ten tons of make-up... I mean seriously, she looks like 10 years younger! O_o
Anyway... I do agree that she needs to pretty much get a new team though and get more involved with the production of her music again. I think the problem is that she gets coddled by her team and she accepts anything from them because they're her friends.
As for cheapness of her videos now that is generally happening to all Avex artists because that label is going downhill... What you expecting a bitch to dip into the $400,000,000 in her personal bank account??? LOL

  5. No. This song is not better than ANYTHING on 'Party queen'. That album was terrible. But even so, no one song on it sounded as bad as this shit. "You & me" is badly produced and sounds outdated. Even 90's Ayu is side eyeying this atrocity of a song.

The video was just as much of a mess. She tainted "Fairyland" and "Blue bird" with this crap and those were good videos.

And I'm tired of this 'Avex is going downhill' excuse for her cheap music videos. She was on an exotic beach, in a resort and shut down a fair ground. The budget can't have been THAT tight.

Ayu is in as much control of her music now as she always was. If anything, she's probabaly in too much control of it. She needs an A&R person and an executive producer who is going to steer her. Because the problem is that nobody seems to be doing that. Avex are letting her just do her own thing because of who she is and it's casuing all of this. 'Party queen' was a prime example. That album NEVER should have been released. But Avex let it drop any way, because it's Ayu, she can do what she likes and 'Hey, we'll push some units and make money'.

If anything, I think Ayu needs to relinqush control of her music. She's too stuck in her own sound to realize how bad it's become.

    1. Okay, well then it's me personally that thinks that this song is better than the majority of PQ. She can only go up from here I hope.

We've all been saying it, Ayumi has at least majority control of her image and music.

Bitch needs to get her shit together, spend an evening listening to I am..., Rainbow, Secret, and (Miss)understood and get back on track.

    2. LOL don't even try to pretend Avex aren't going downhill... All their artists used to have amazing videos especially Ayu, what was the last video that looked like it cost a significant amount of money to make besides "Virgin Road"???
Most of their vids these days are either in a car park, in front of a green screen or in Ayu's case wherever she happens to be holidaying at the time.
Having said this IMO "You & Me" video looks nowhere near as cheap as the "Party Queen" videos and the only reason I can imagine you compare it to the "Blue Bird" video is because it's set on a beach.. It's a summer song what else can she really do?
Anyway about her music I do think she does have control of it I just think she delegates too much to other producers etc and I do agree with you that she needs a new team who will tell her straight, keep business business and friends private. Having said that while I do agree with the fact she's in control of the music I still don't buy that she is making the decision to churn out albums so fast, I'm sure Avex is pushing her (and Kumi) to drop these albums non stop for financial reasons...

    3. Okay, then why would Avex let Namie release an album every 2-3 years? Avex isn't forcing Kumi and Ayu to release shit, most of their artists release in normal periods of 2-4 years, there is no reason Kumi and Ayu would be an exception to that unless they wanted to.

Money is spent on artists that are selling, obviously. Exile got a hefty budget, and Namie made like a bajillion videos, so the budget was probably stretched out between them.

Not to mention the current music market. And with Ayu and Kumi's current shitty ass sales, they're lucky their MV's aren't being filmed on a Nokia.

    4. "It's a summer song what else can she really do?" Really Luke. Really!? This is such a basic ass excuse and you know it.

    5. Blue Bird and Fairyland is far better than this, even Glitter is better. As someone who isn't blinded by his love for this woman's music, this song is one of her worst.

  6. I love it...so much better than anything on that last flop album. Mostly cause I'm hearing no input from that fucking Timmy guy. Ayu had maybe two good songs on Party Queen (both of which I think J hated, whatever) and honestly besides Love Songs (I'll stan for till the end of time, only 2 bad songs on there) everything she's ever put out has been patchy to an extent.

I like the song, I do. And lets all be real here, it does it's job well. The reason this was made was to shit all over Kuu's Summer single. Which it's done efficently.
And I like the video, she looks about 16 but I really like it. However the moment J compared her to a Gypsy bride I was dead.

  7. @David Yeah Namie gets to release an album every 2 years somehow but that's lucky for her... Ayu herself has said that they forced her to release "A Best" when she didn't want to so there is a precedent.
As for the music vids none of them are up to the standard of Avex videos in 2008 or even 2009 and Namie may have made a ton of vids for "Uncontrolled" but what are they? Her in front of a green screen, her in a room? her in a cafe? her in a field? It's hardly high budget...

@J: Most of her summer songs have involved a beach, I really don't get why you hate this one so much lmao I think it's refreshing to see something more simple and laid back but without seeming budget.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, back in two thousand fucking one. Bitch had released three albums and it was prime time since Hikki was releasing her album; the competition drove those sales.

And it's not just Namie, don't nitpick; go look at the release schedules of artists signed to Avex and you'll see 2-4 year breaks between albums.

Yeah, like I said, there were 11 fucking music videos on an album of 13 songs; the budget is bound to be stretched out.

Exile got a huge budget for their "All Night Long" video.

Even with all this, it's stupid to think that in an era of declining sales for every artist, that they're going to be spending the same amount. Especially on the flopping queens. The video for "Jewel" cost more than Ayumi's last three albums probably made.

  9. What a terrible song and video. Is this the same woman who made Bold and Delicious? I agree with killertune, she hasn't done anything good since Guilty. I think she releases most of her albums because she wants to. She's a workaholic that's obvious. She really needs to step back and take some time off.

  10. ayumi......hire a writer....hire a stylist.....hire a make-up artist.....hire a choreographer.......hire a SINGER.....and RETIRE.

These bish is seriously reduced to rummaging through bushes for the make-shift wigs on her bald head.

Because what she's dropping is beyond the 5 second rule and should have never been picked up in the first place.

And for all of the sheep who say it's all about the "emotion" in her voice regardless of how much the actual music sucks-KILL THAT.

There's no room for emotion in her voice with all of the dirty arse orgasms in this wenche's crusty arse mouth.

    SHEEP. FLEECE. FLUNG.

  11. This sounds very Tetsuya Komuro 90s track with TRF meets We Found Love. I don't know what to say after hearing it, like the stunned silence you get after seeing a tsunami or a nuclear explosion. Bad.

  12. The song sounds more 90's and eurodance than any of her latets releases. It could and should be so much better with better producing. Idk. I'm sad that I don't like it because I love her. She looks good on the vid tho

  13. I'll just Para Para to this song TBH. Its the year of Namieserable LBR, I'm dissappointed with the Avex Queens this year. And BoA's nowhere to be found this year either. And Hikki is on a hiatus.

J-pop needs a massive slap in the face and wake up and release good songs and music videos again. They have the 2nd largest music market in the damn world and according to experts its actually closing in on the US market in terms of overall value. So money is not the issue here.

  14. You are all so harsh! I like this song way better thank Blue Bird, for example. It's catchy. The video is girly and cute. I think you spend more time criticizing than actually listening.

  15. I love this song. sure it's different than anything she's done before but that's the most popular tune in songs nowadays. pop music is ALWAYS changing, remember that. now you can all kill me:)

  16. "OOOOH FLIDAY NAY! MAH WIG'S ABOU' TA FLY!"

Oh God, i'm laughing, that video was so "criminal in a homeless ghetto hood"

The Forehead found love, Britney another sex buddy and Ayu knew she looks like a mambara or that shit, fake ass tan with a trashy cheap wig, what's left from that woman whom used to run the business? Where's Ayumi? Oh yeah... she's posing with unicorns...

Can't wait to see who's flopping harder, Ayu or Kumi... i like Kumi now, so i hope she does well, same goes for Ayu she can't flop that much.
